Any solid shell drum is going to be a great drum due to it's thickness. Can't really comment on the NnC drums, never really sat with them.
The Gretsch COB(chrome over brass) snares from '58 to I think '63? Are great drums. I have a rare '59 COB non engraved model, only a few were made, it appeared on the cover of the '59 Gretsch catalog.
The Vinnie Yamaha sig drum is a nice drum, I have one. Hard to find now adays, every once in a great moon one appears on Ebay.

I picked up a 66 LW Acrolite (Keystone Badge) recently that really has a nice full sound, great crack and projects very well. I have been playing that more and more instead of my Pearl Ian Paice, and Mapex Phosphor Bronze.

Sorry to go on a limb here, but I find it extremly difficult to believe that 2 guys from the same country have a Vinnie Yamaha sig drum. These were rare to begin with.

Funny story about that snare. When I worked in retail as a drum manager sales guy in Long Beach I sold a Vinnie sig snare to the drummer from Sublime as well as a complete yamaha set. He ended up using that snare on a few hits from that band including "What I got". Another drummer used it on the "Santaria" track.
